1. A man is a father to his children. 2. A man understands that as a parent, he is his children's first teacher. 3. A man teaches his sons how to be men. 4. A man requires his children to read books and newspapers daily. 5. A man requires his children to write daily. 6. A man reads to his children. 7. A man requires that his children read African & Latino-centered literature toward their life long study of their history. 8. A man teaches his children about their history. 9. A man teaches his children about the struggle and their roles in the struggle. 10. A man talks to his children about having pride in who they are as young Black and Latino men. 11. A man conducts himself as a role model for his children - he leads by example. 12. A man reminds his children that they represent him at all times. 13. A man spends quality time with his children. 14. A man communicates with his children regularly – both speaking and listening. 15. A man has high expectations for his children, despite his own setbacks. 16. A man encourages his children to search for the genius and creativity that lies within them. 17. A man challenges his children to achieve excellence. 18. A man holds his children accountable for achieving academic excellence. 19. A man strives to motivate, educate and empower his children daily. 20. A man doesn't accept mediocrity from his children. 21. A man tells his children that he loves them. 22. A man doesn't ridicule and demean his children. 23. A man refrains from negativity in his interactions with his children. 24. A man takes his children to African and Latino-centered educational programs and activities. 25. A man exposes his children to a wide variety of activities 26. A man helps his children with their homework. 27. A man reviews his children's homework. 28. A man requires that his children study - even when they do not have homework. 29. A man attends functions and meetings at his children's school. 30. A man goes to his children's school to meet and interact with teachers and administrators. 31. A man encourages his children to believe in themselves. 32. A man assists his children with determining a purpose in life. 33. A man assists his children with understanding that they have a historical obligation to achieve. 34. A man encourages his children to be determined to desire success from within. 35. A man encourages his children to develop a vision for success. 36. A man requires that his children are goal-oriented. 37. A man talks to his children about economics and entrepreneurship as they relate to individual and community empowerment. 38. A man talks to his children about politics and the political process as they relate to individual and community empowerment. 39. A man talks to his children about societal issues and problems as they relate to individual and community empowerment. 40. A man talks to his children about community work. 41. A man talks to his children about expected and acceptable behavior both in and out of school. 42. A man disciplines his children. 43. A man teaches his children positive values. 44. A man teaches his children about household responsibilities. 45. A man teaches his children conflict resolution. 46. A man teaches his children coping and survival skills. 47. A man monitors his children's media exposure. 48. A man monitors who his children spend their time with. 49. A man provides for his children while not depriving them of their needs. 50. A man teaches his children about good hygiene and grooming. 51. A man monitors his children's attire and overall appearance and has a say in what they wear and how they wear it. 52. A man talks to his children about respecting elders. 53. A man talks to his sons about proper relations with girls. 54. A man talks to his sons about respecting, valuing, appreciating and getting along with other young men. 55. A man teaches his children about God.
