this high-energy and highly interactive workshop, Principal Kafele
provides school leaders with strategies toward developing a school
climate and culture that yield the results that their students are

Effective Instructional Leadership
for Raising the Achievement Levels of African American Students
An empowering workshop for
building-level and central office administrators providing leaders
with instructional leadership strategies toward raising the
achievement levels of African American students. Highly
engaging and interactive, this session places a particular emphasis
on building productive collegial relationships between administrators
and teachers.

for New and Aspiring Principals
Many new and aspiring principals
develop mindsets and attitudes that in order for them to experience
success in their leadership roles, they must first and foremost be
strong disciplinarians. Although discipline is important, in order
for a principal to truly evolve into an effective school leader,
he/she must function as the instructional leader of the school. In
this high-energy, highly interactive series of workshops, Principal
Kafele engages new and aspiring principals in discussion towards
developing a mindset that the achievement of their students is
directly tied to their effectiveness in leading their schools
instructionally.

Meeting the Classroom Needs of the African American Male Learner
The plight of African American males continues to pose a major
challenge for educators at all levels - particularly under the
demands of No Child Left Behind. This high energy, interactive
session will provide educators with an analysis as well as specific
strategies that can be implemented immediately toward effectively
meeting the classroom needs of their African American male learners.
This workshop places a particular emphasis on the students’
self-identity and its impact on learning and achievement. Strategies
for developing a “Young Men’s Empowerment Program” in your school or
district will also be discussed.

An empowering workshop specifically
developed for educators of African American students.
This high-energy session provides strategies for educators to
utilize towards effectively motivating their African American students to strive for academic excellence. Topics include:
Understanding the crisis of African American underachievement, understanding and addressing the "crisis of self,"
historical and contemporary contributors to African American
underachievement, the foundation for African American achievement, lesson plan development and "must read" resource
materials.

the African American and Latino Learner
An empowering workshop specifically
developed for educators of African American and Latino students.
This high-energy session provides strategies for educators to
utilize towards effectively motivating their African American and
Latino students to strive for academic excellence. Topics include:

and organization, classroom management, making connections in the

Sons (For Single Mothers)
According to current national data, upwards of 70% of African
American children are born into households where the only parent
present is the mother. This has significant implications for
African American males where far too many mothers continue to
struggle with teaching their sons how to become men. The
overwhelming majority of these single mothers are extremely
well-intentioned, but simply lack solid information and strategies
toward being successful. In this powerful, high-energy and
interactive workshop, Principal Kafele provides single mothers with
information and strategies that can be immediately implemented
toward motivating, educating and empowering their sons for
excellence.
Empowering Parents Toward Inspiring
Their Children
An empowering series of workshops or
keynote address providing strategies for parents to utilize towards
motivating and inspiring their children to strive for academic
excellence. Topics include: Defining a purpose for learning,
culturally-based reading, goal setting, developing effective study
skills and test-taking strategies, communicating in the home,
collaborating with the school, and handling distractions to success
including obstacles, challenges, music, the media and peer pressure.

All students have the potential to lead, but not

within them. Many who are followers could become great student
leaders if only they knew of the leadership potential that they

maximizing their potential to assume leadership in their school and
community.

MALE EMPOWERMENT
Wake Up!!!
One of the most serious crises that we
face as a nation is the plight of African American and Latino male
youth. An enormous amount of time is spent talking about
them, but not enough time is spent speaking to them. In this
powerful and riveting workshop, Principal Kafele speaks directly to
the African American and Latino male youth. He provides them with a
“mirror” of the realities of growing up as African American and
Latino males, while simultaneously providing them with viable
solutions toward their own intellectual and social-emotional growth
and development. This session is high-energy, interactive and
engaging, with a particular focus on teenagers. It is appropriate
for all settings, including juvenile detention centers.

Relationship to “Self”
The first in a three-part series of
workshops specifically designed for Black and Latino
men. This workshop provides
characteristics of a positive man in relationship to himself, while
providing strategies for self-development.
To Be a Man – In
Relationship to Women
The second in a three-part series of
workshops specifically designed for Black and Latino men. This
workshop provides characteristics of a positive man in relationship
to women or his mate, while providing strategies for
developing, maintaining and strengthening male – female
relationships.

The third in a three-part series of
workshops specifically designed for Black
and Latino men. This workshop
provides characteristics of a positive man in
relationship to his children, while
placing a particular emphasis on building strong and productive
relationships between fathers and their sons.
